Lisa Wahl, MEd, CCC, RCC
Lisa received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology followed by her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Simon Fraser University and continues her education and training as a lifelong learner. Before becoming a counsellor, Lisa's volunteer and work experience at the crisis centre, in the homeless community, as a corporate sales trainer, and raising three children, she saw first-hand the positive impact a guiding, supportive, empathic voice can be in others’ lives. The transformations Lisa witnessed through these experiences are what motivated her to pursue her dream of becoming a counsellor.
Working with adults, children, families, and groups for a non-profit organization in the community, Lisa is trained in trauma-informed practice, child-centred play therapy, person-centred, CBT, somatic and attachment theory. Through her studies she completed extensive research on children with learning disabilities and their families. Lisa understands the difficulties parents and children can experience as they navigate their way through the obstacles and concerns after diagnosis, and she provide guidance, coping skills, support and hope to these families. Along with families and children, Lisa works closely with individual adults with mental and emotional health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress as well as providing support for couples.
Lisa's therapeutic approach is to cultivate a safe, trusting, and collaborative space for her clients to feel comfortable exploring their emotions, barriers, and life challenges. She aims to provide a strong therapeutic alliance of genuineness, non-judgment, and empathy in order to create a firm foundation from which her clients can begin their journey as she walks alongside them in their growth and healing.
