A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

COUNSELLING FOR PREGNANCY LOSS

The end of a pregnancy can be devastating. Pregnancy loss could be a miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion or neonatal loss. Losing a baby at any stage in your pregnancy can bring up feelings of guilt, shame, anger, anxiety, sadness, and grief.

These emotions often come in waves and maybe most noticeable when there is a birth announcement in your community, or seeing other women pregnant on the street. This can often lead to increased isolation and withdrawal from your community to avoid hurtful reminders. Grief can reappear when you least expect it. Western society does not currently support mourning pregnancy loss, therefore leading to a lack of understanding and disconnect from the community.

Part of our journey with you will be supporting you in getting closure and providing you with tools and resources to cope during the challenging times.

COUNSELLING FOR POSTPARTUM

Being a new mother can be magical, and it can also be scary. Your body goes through hormonal changes, weight gain and lack of sleep to name a few. As a mother (or father), you may be navigating your new role as a parent and provider, worrying excessively about your baby's health, or you may be finding it challenging to connect with your baby. Postpartum can start prior to birth, immediately after, or it could take a few months before the symptoms start to show. Our role as your counsellors is to offer emotional support to you and your partner and provide you with the tools to help you get through this.

Using an attachment lens, we may explore your new identity as a mother and find ways to build a secure attachment with your baby as well as strengthen the relationship between you and your partner.

COUNSELLING FOR INFERTILITY

Infertility can be difficult to cope with for both women and men. It can affect your quality of life, body image, interpersonal relationships, emotional wellbeing, and self-worth. You may find yourself starting to lose hope and isolating yourself from friends and family or feeling immense anger and frustration. You may be beginning your journey with fertility treatments (IUI, IVF, Superovulation, Surrogacy, Sperm/Egg Donor, Adoption) and need the right support and tools to help you navigate the process, or would like to explore some of the emotions you may be experiencing such as anger, grief, guilt, shame, hopelessness.

Parenting begins the moment you make any conscious effort to care for your own health in preparation for enhancing your child’s conception.
